newzbot: newzbot server status Give me more techie details: News servers to be scanned are put into a scan queue, either through a spidering process or through web-based submissions. The scanning engine (nntp-scan) runs multiple copies of itself on various Unix machines laying around my house, looking for work in the scan queue. If there is work to do, nntp-scan picks a host, locks it so no other nntp-scan processes can grab it, scans it, and then removes it from the scan queue. If the nntp-scan process dies unexpectedly, the host it was working on will remain "locked" for 96 hours before it is unlocked for another nntp-scan process.
